You must have read a different article than the one you linked to. 
Anderson plainly states that “Had we done every single thing right 
throughout the year and been a team that didn’t make some mistakes off 
the field, we might’ve had a chance to do some things at home and change 
the course at the end of it." He clearly acknowledges that off-the-field 
distractions hurt the team, as they usually do.

The article really just seems like a bunch of coach-speak for "it wasn't 
the year we wanted, but with our returning talent, we're in a position 
to be good in the future." And if it's your position that it's 
unrealistic for fans to want to see their team live up to their 
potential and stay out of trouble, then I don't think Anderson would 
agree with you.
