[Husker] Situation

Now I have no problem with MP, I, unlike some have suggested, do not want to
see him hang outside Memorial Stadium.

My issue is with the penalty. 2 major infractions warrants a 1 game
suspension ? That is ludicrous. Again, talking about the standard form the 2
previous coaches (admittedly TO's became much more strict late in his
career) 1 major was a 2 game suspension (DUI is certainly a major
infraction, the assault I think was, but that is debatable). 2 majors was
off the team. If BC had done a 3 game suspension, I would have not agreed
but think it was in the "margin of error".

This certainly stinks of wanting MP ready and available for the USC game
which is what I am most upset with. Bob has asked about starters suspended
or booted. That should not matter at all.

I have HS coaching experience (state champion level wrestlers). Having a set
of rules for the starters or stars and different for the rest of the team is
a huge mistake. Also penalties should never be affected by the schedule. If
a starter was suspended and that was for the conference, district or state
tournament, that was his fault.

Finally, yes I whole heartedly agree, the UM players committed a much more
egregious offense. MP is not in the same league. No question. The point is
not they are equal, rather, the actions of the coach. UM did not wait until
5 pm on Friday to announce it to hide the penalty. By the time anyone reads
it, it is old news. Very common move by politicians. Release bad news Friday
late.

I agree. I just am not sure why some people want Purify gone so bad.
To me to dismiss a player just so a coach doesn't look like he is a win at
all costs guy isn't fair to the player.

I am not a fan of the Solich/Callahan discussion any more either.
However, it is always going to be there. The reason being Solich was fired
and the guy that fired Solich hired Callahan and is still in place. I am
not advocating Pederson be gone but when he is the Solich talk likely will
be few and far between.
