I don't know if you are tongue in cheek or not but in case you are not I never said that. What I said was, "Just as an aside here, how one stands on this issue has nothing to do with sanity". What I meant by this is whichever side of this issue one sits doesn't mean one is any more or less sane than someone on the other side. It is simply a difference of opinion. Degree of sanity is irrelevant.

I would think most people would agree with the above statement. Where the rub comes in is how, as a coach, do you administer "held accountable for their actions"? Is dismissal from the team the only way to make the players accountable? I think it has to be a case by case consideration. I don't think it is right to say because Purify wasn't dismissed from the team Callahan wasn't holding him accountable. If one has to be dismissed then Osborne didn't hold LP accountable either. I would think for the last six months or so this young man has gone through a meat grinder. I believe there should be some punishment handed out from the team but I believe dismissal would be a little strong.

I sometimes get caught up in it as well but it can be a dangerous thing to make judgments based on what one reads in the paper or hears on the news. The media is not privy to all information and as human beings they can be biased as well. I do find opinions sometimes humorous that Tom Osborne wanted to do what is right for Phillips regardless of public opinion but Callahan all he wants to do is save his neck. Just like a lot of situations in life, it is not what you do it is who you are.
