Brandon Drum, SO, 2nd team DT, thrown of by FS after a bar fight.
Derek Allen SO 2n team DT thrown off by FS (same year as Drumm, NU had 3 2nd
teamers Steve Warran being the 3rd)
There was a CB 2nd team (JR) at the same time.
Jon Vedral, starter, effective a 1 game suspension, or off the team
completely (DUI before his final bowl game, FS was coach)
Shevin Wiggins, contrib. to the delinquency of a minor, before his 2nd SR
year (granted extra year by NCAA) never played at NU again
Those are from memory, which may be faulty, but I am certain the facts are
pretty close.
Those are all either starters or key backups.
But of course it is more important for BC to get MP to help win a game and
get BC his new contract.

Just as an aside here, how one stands on this issue has nothing to do
with sanity. I would hope to think that you don't feel only those with whom
you agree are sane.

Whether one agrees or disagrees this isn't any different than NU has
operated down through the years. Starting with a guy winning the Heisman
that committed armed robbery down through Purify there are few instances of
any major contributor being dismissed from the team. There probably are a
some more but Farley is really the only one that comes to mind. And
remember I said "major contributor". There possibly could have been someone
dismissed along the way that was down the depth chart. Those that believe
Purify should be dismissed will say the punishment wasn't tough enough.
Those that agree with the decision will say the main consideration has to be
for the young man and not public opinion. And the beat goes on.
In my opinion the Minnesota coach had a little different set of
circumstances than did Callahan but that is just my opinion. That could be
argued as well.
