Shouldn't the bottom line be - what kind of person do we get out of this?
Ultimately, Purify learns his lesson from this or he doesn't. Kicking him
off the team isn't going to get him anywhere in life. Suspending him two
games means he won't make anyone's All-American or conference lists and
pretty much destroys the chance at any awards and it also gives him a fair
amount of time to get his crap together. He's then on notice so that so
much as a bad smell is going to get him removed and destroy everything
he's worked for. If he doesn't understand that, he'll destroy himself
ultimately.
It's pretty self-serving to want him kicked off the team because it
bruises your ego. Are people to be so easily dismissed? How long are we
going to go before we stop making current players pay for the sins of
Lawrence Phillips?
'these' miscreants? There hasn't been much over the past few years. The
program has been pretty clean. Even Purify's actions relative to others
that are making the news right now are pretty light.
