It doesn't take much perfection to avoid driving drunk, especially when
you're already on thin ice from recent legal problems. In fact, you
have to *try* very hard to make such a stupid decision. I think
everyone that has a driver's license can do more than simply "wish" they
were perfect enough to avoid driving drunk If they can't, then they
need to get off the road for everyone's sake, as it's truly one of the
most selfish and careless things a person can do.
Like it or not, Maurice screwed up and deserves to be scrutinized, as
well as punished for his actions. If he is fortunate enough to get his
current legal problems straightened out and Callahan feels that he
deserves a third chance, then I'll trust Callahan's decision and hope
for the best. However, this can't be forgotten about simply because
Purify appears in a few "Huskers visit the local children's hospital"
videos on the HuskerVision screens next fall. I'm willing to support
whatever decision Callahan makes on Purify's future with the team, but
at some point you have to draw the line and say "enough is enough". If
Callahan feels Purify deserves a chance to earn a spot back on the team,
then it will surely be the last chance he gets.
