This seems a bit "apples and oranges". None of the innocent players on 
the OU team has been dismissed from the team or lost his scholarship. 
Nor did I see anything in there about loss of TV appearances or 
bowl-game eligibility. Those who played two years ago have seen there 
W-L record take a big hit, but that doesn't change what happened on the 
field. The coaches (whose innocence is a bit of a question, at least in 
my mind) take something of a hit in terms of record, reputation and some 
lost scholarships (which might have some impact on OU's record in the 
next few years).

If there is any unfairness here, it probably lies in the fact that OU is 
being punished for something (as Mark Landin noted) that goes on in a 
lot of places, but generally is ignored.
