According to the reports of the Jim Jones incident, it wasn't Kool-Aid
that the cyanide and valium was dissolved in, but a product called
"Flavor Aid".

Some sources attribute the phrase "Drink the Kool-Aid" to Tom Wolfe's 1968
novel, "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test". Given that the context the
phrase is often used refers to someone whose beliefs are considered
delusional rather than someone who is being murdered, that seems to me to
be a more reasonable explanation of the origin of the phrase.
