[Husker] Norvell, players -- NU is nothing more than a PIT STOP

I'd agree that 'roster stability' on an individual basis has not changed so
much. It is the overall skill set of the 'roster' (round pegs) and how they
become acclimated to the 'scheme' (square holes).

Perhaps the pipeline of steady players in the 'old regime' was easy to plug
into the old scheme. On the other hand, the style of players in the new
regime are not so easy to plug into the new scheme.

In other words, the WCO is more complicated than the Power-I.

~~~
I am not suggesting that one style is better or worse than the other...just
saying that I believe the ability to re-load, rather than re-build was
easier before WCO was installed.
Should BC stick around for a few more years, only then can we assess his
overall ability to re-load.  So far, his staff has done a pretty decent job
of recruiting.  We'll see how that turns into success; and, of course...we
can measure success with "W's" and trophies.
One other side-bar...the entire discussion of loyalty and furriners mimics
the real world.  Those elder statesmen on the List, like my Grandpa, had 25+
years in a meatpacking plant.  And, damn, they were loyal and glad to have
the job.  Today... the younger generations want it all, want it better and
want it NOW.  I hate to say it, but loyalty, tradition and allegiance will
disappear even more as baby-boomers migrate from the working ranks and into
RVs, golf havens and nursing homes.
So I guess I had better get used to players and coaches making NU a "pit
This is what we get when we go for the gold and end up with "furriners"
-- those without any roots or loyalty to sticking around and making it
happen IN LINCOLN.
2 years is all we get with a "Brandon Jackson." So much for roster
stability...
________
Actually, we got three years from Jackson just as we did from Ahman Green
and a couple of other running backs during Dr. Tom' reign. "Roster
stability" has never really existed except in relative terms.
