Doc Sadler chalks up the first of what I hope will be many Big XII
Conference victories in his career at Nebraska as the Huskers looked noticeably more
enthused about playing during their rout of the Buffs than they had a few days
earlier in Norman.
Nebraska raced out to a 10-zip lead and led 30-13 at the half as Colorado
had more turnovers -- at least 14 -- than points. Nebraska worked the ball
well on offense, but still missed quite a few good, open shots in the first
half. NU's defense was improved and I believe I heard they only turned it over
six times for the game.
Aleks Maric hit quite a few point-blank layups early in the second half to
help inflate the team shooting percentage. NU made a noticeable effort to get
the ball inside to Maric and not get too 3-pointer happy.
The 6-foot-11 junior center ended up with 28 points and 8 boards and Jamel
White kicked in 18. Unfortunately for this team that has been bitten by the
injury-bug, Sek Henry and Ryan Anderson sustained additional set-backs. I
have no status report on either, just what I saw at the game. It looked like
Sek got poked pretty good in the left eye and Anderson injured his leg. Don't
know if it was the same leg that's been a previous problem for Anderson or
not. If anyone wasn't there and watched on the tube, maybe you've got an
updated injury report.
Nebraska improves to 12-5 and 1-2 in the Big XII. 'Rado sinks to 5-10 and
1-4. A very young and good team (Texas) and a great, young player (Durant)
come to Lincoln on Wednesday night for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
