Huskers at #12 according to this columnist. States that Nebraska cannot
go through another season without a 'capable' kicker...interesting
comment. --Scott in NY

Almost hate opening this can of worms, but I was out of touch at the time
Congdon was recruited. Just came across an old copy of Huskers
Illustrated that was given to me recently wherein all the recruits were
being hyped (which included Harrison Beck, B. Cryer, B. Turner, and
Congdon.) It certainly looked ON PAPER that he was capable of kicking
40-50 yarders previous to coming to NU, and in fact was rated highly by
Rivals or one of those services...what happened ??????? Didn't he
"develop" ?

This is an example of why I don't place a lot of stock in the blue-chip
reports prior to the athlete playing on the field. It's nice to dream
big, but it seems you never really know how they will pan out. (Or
nowadays, how long they'll STAY at NU.)

P.S. Guess I will jump on the "Thanks, Mike" bandwagon. At times I was
almost ready to, but just couldn't bring myself to "unsubscribe." (I
have MOST of the List Digests on my computer back to 4-14-99.) This is
the cheap man's link to keeping up with most of Big Red happenings.
Thanks, guy.
