[Husker] Miscalculations

No, you didn't miscalculate at all. Evans was one of the earlier sufferers of "Pubic somethingorother," Evans played well as a freshman, then became limited by this "injury." He was never the same while at NU and eventually transferred to a small college where it went away and he had a decent end to his career at the small college level.

The ailment is an irritation in the groin area where the pelvic bones meet. After a serious round of battling this ailment among several of the players, the football coaches finally stopped forcing the players to attend weightlifting sessions because they were convinced it was Epley's latest weight program causing the injury. Solich and Epley were forever enemy's thereafter. With reduced weight training, the injury went away, but so did the development of muscular strength. I personnally believe this was the reason Solich's teams went downhill, not due to recruiting shortcomings as is sometimes suggested.

I am not sure whether this qualifies as a miscalculation....but when I lived in Kansas a few years back, I heard about a young sophmore high school player from Wichita. I went down to watch him play and the next day I called the Univ and talked to----I am pretty sure it was Stever Peterson---when he was recruiting coordinator. Anyway.......the young man was named DeAngelo Evans.......He played pretty well as an underclassman at Nebraska but I think he became a bit disenchanted after a couple of years and transferred.
