[Husker] Personal Data; greatest hits?

I have a favorite miscalculation, and it frames my
opinion of the folly of folks who try to evaluate high
school talent. It wasn't on this list, but I had an
argument with a guy who I thought was knowledgable at
the time back in 1996 when Odell James committed to
Baylor. He was very concerned that Nebraska had lost
a quarterback prospect like James to a school like
Baylor. He said that for Nebraska to continue to
succeed, we couldn't have quarterbacks from the state
of Nebraska, but rather Florida and Texas because the
level of high school football there is light years
above and ahead of Nebraska's.

Odell James went on to start four games at quarterback
for Baylor in his career before switching to safety.
Nebraska had to settle for native Nebraskans Scott
Frost and Eric Crouch.

My personal worst miscalculation was complaining about
the Kickoff Classic matchup with TCU in 2001. I
didn't see the point in playing this game except for
money...until the strength of schedule impact of that
game ended up sending the Huskers to the BCS title
game...
