I agree. The ugliness surrounding the coaching change also threw a lot
of water on the fires of fandom.

I think that's a major reason, but not the only one, and maybe not the
primary one, so it wouldn't be proportional, if that's the case. Other
reasons, off the top of my head, would be the presence and growth of
other
Husker boards, boards that didn't exist when Mike's list was launched.
Another reason that we know of is the feeling of being attacked or
tiring of
other people being attacked. Ironically, there is probably less of that
here
than any other Husker board, but the people who left wouldn't
necessarily
know that.
