Hello Husker Fans,

This has to be one of the best threads we've ever had. I love reading
all the stories of how people became Husker fans and how they ended up
on the list. I love stories about the early days with play-by-plays
posted to the list. I think back to all of the poster's that have left
throughout the years and wish they were still here. Greg Mays, Chris
"Husker Meteorologist" Coleman, we saw Jeff Brown poke his head out...
Many of them. I appreciate those who have not been afraid to post an
unpopular opinion here (Bob Beach and others). Even though I don't
agree with them, they're always willing to argue their point and give
a reason for thinking that without being hostile to others on the list
(despite the nasty stuff sent to them frequently).

I've already posted my age and when I started watching (27 and late
80s). I was born and raised in Elkhorn, Nebraska (now live in Omaha,
which is pretty much the same city anymore). I played college
baseball at Hastings College until I realized that I wasn't taking it
seriously enough to take on $5,000 debt per semester (I could party at
home for less than that!). So I moved back to Omaha, took classes
part time @ UNO and found my bride at the young age of 19. We got
married (@ age 20), have 2 future Husker fans already :)

I joined this list around 98 I think. My dad originally found it on
HuskerPedia and told me about it (Steve Dodds). He isn't on the list
anymore, but I try to forward him the good stuff.

Since about '92 I've been to games here and there, but never
consistently until 2 years ago when my relatives who are retired
employees from UNL decided they were getting too old to go to the
games. Their kids were either out of state or not interested (could
you imagine that??).

We really lucked out with tickets on about the 23 yard line 13 rows up
right by some of the coaches from the other sports. We've become good
friends with a lot of people around us, many of which work at the
University.

My dad is a tweener photographer (not really pro, but way too much
equipment to be amateur). And he got a press pass for a couple of
games this year in exchange for photos for our friends who work there
and the players. That was like heaven on earth for him.

My dad was out of town for 1 game this year and I got to take my 7
year old daughter to her first game. She absolutely loved it and said
her favorite part was the Val's pizza and the band (I'll work on
that).

I hope some day I can be a season ticket holder myself, (although I'll
probably start w/ Baseball season tickets).

I'll one up the stories with a couple pictures.
