Hi,
Although I haven't posted much, I have really enjoyed
the 'Husker list since I joined in 1993 or so. Like
many of the others on this list, I benefited from
Mike's transcriptions of the games before the radio
broadcasts were available on the Net.
My interest in Nebraska football began the day I
stepped on Nebraska soil as an 11-year-old in 1973. I
attended my first game in Lincoln in 1974 (a 54-0
drubbing of Minnesota) courtesy of the Omaha
World-Herald. (I had won some newspaper contest as a
paperboy and this was the award.) Somehow the
World-Herald had managed to find the winning paperboys
bleacher seats on the field, so we had a wonderful
view of the lively action. I was a winner the
following year as well and got to attend the
NU/Miami-of-Ohio game. I still remember sitting
behind the fence in the end zone and having John
O'Leary crash into it right in front of me after
scoring a touchdown. Such wonderful memories...
This list was a real lifesaver for me during the three
years I spent in Barcelona as a foreign service
employee. I devoured the commentary during Tom
Osborne's last season as well as the first couple
years of Solich's short reign at NU. Although there
is so much information available these days, I still
find the list very useful and follow it loyally. My
thanks to all of you (especially Mike) for making this
list interesting. And, by the way, I'm a young 44 :-)
Regards,
