The world gets smaller. Last fall I met a preacher from
Woodward, Oklahoma
who is currently doing mission work in Yekaterinburg. You
are in a pretty frosty
section of the world right now, Steve.
It is difficult to believe that I have lived in Erick,
Oklahoma for nearly 11
years. Since graduating from UNL in 1970 I've lived in
Alaska, Massachusetts,
Nebraska(three different times), Oklahoma for a year and a
half in the rematch
Orange Bowl era, Kansas(Scott City-home of Lance Lewis,
Husker fullback) and
Texas(Wellington-where the offensive player of 1991 in Texas
2A football turned
down the Huskers because he did not want to sit a year to
get grades before
playing. Okie State talked him into going to Garden City
Juco where he started
in the defensive backfield until he hurt his knee and never
played football on
the D1 level.
I've been on the list for about 10 years and the ride has
been great. It
is particularly fitting that the age question and location
info request should
come from two of the more active listers-Bob Beach and Dick
Karre.
Mike is owed a big debt of gratitude by all of us for
putting up with some real
grouchy and nearly incoherent listers over the years. There
are even a few of us
who keep quiet for long periods of time and then wax
loquacious-sorry about that.
That is what age and great memories do for us old coots.

Kerry Hookstra
Erick, Oklahoma(where I cheer for OSU in Rick Wilson's
honor. His namesake is a
highly successful high school girls coach at Weatherford,
OK)
