Dadgummit Rick! I keep trying to convince these young women fresh out of
college that I'm still in my early 30's, and now you ruin it by telling
everyone we were in high school together, and 46 years old to boot! :-)
Oh well, since the cat is out of the bag...
I first became aware of Husker football at the age of 10 when my Dad got
really excited by the 1970 Husker team tying a strong USC to stay
unbeaten. If this Husker football thing was so exciting I wanted to know
about it. By the end of the season I was hooked, listening to every game
on the radio, and watching enthralled when they were on TV. I thought
the Huskers were invincible, and cried when I experienced the first loss
in the '72 season. But even then, being a Husker fan brought much more
joy than pain. It's been a wonderful ride, and I plan to keep riding on
into the sunset...
