I am 35, and I started rooting for the Huskers during the hype before the '83 Orange Bowl, partly because my school teams here are known as the Big Red as well, and also because I hated Miami and all the cockiness surrounding them, so I rooted for the Huskers in that game. Been following them ever since, and so has a friend of mine, and we get a lot of strange looks when we go watch the games out somewhere, since there really aren't too many Husker fans in upstate NY who have never really had ties to the state of Nebraska.

We've gone on quite a few road trips to see the Huskers from NY, most notably the game in South Bend in 2000 when Crouch won it in OT. Also drove to the Penn State game in PA in '02, but I'd like to forget about that one. Sat through the hardest rain EVER in the Orange Bowl in '93, and also flew to a game in Lawrence KS in '91 when Calvin Jones almost got 300 yards rushing. That game was interesting because I finally got to see the Huskers in person and lowly Kansas jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first quarter. Also saw the Huskers blow out West Virginia in the Meadowlands a few years back and drove through a rare northeast hurricane to see the Huskers take on the Pitt Panthers in Pittsburgh in '04. Only thing left to do now is to see a game in Lincoln.

Not that too many folks care, but I always thought it was neat that I've seen the team more times in person than a lot of folks who actually live in Lincoln!

Hello Husker Fans,

BB> Holy Moly maybe I should rephrase my question. Is there anyone on this
BB> list under 50 years old?

Alright, I'll bite. Although it seems like I might be the youngest
on the list at the ripe ol' age of 27. So, I'll put the challenge out
there, anyone younger?

In fairness, I might as well be 40 since many people my age don't
already have 2 kids in school, a wife of 8 years, a mortgage and
almost 2 full time jobs :)

I remember watching scattered Husker games, but I really didn't start
paying attention until the late 80's. I barely remember just losing
to FSU in 87 and I really remember asking my Dad if we were going to
beat Miami in the Orange Bowl in '88 and he said, "Not a chance". But
I didn't care, I got to stay up late and watch the game (I was only
9).

GBR!
