Hello Husker Fans,

SR> NU plays in one of the weakest divisions of the major conferences.

I agree 'mostly' with that, only to throw in some of the 'lesser
major' (oxymoron) conferences (see Big East, ACC). Plus, almost all
pundits agree the BTN is on it's way back up.

SR> Likely, USC is the only team on NU's schedule that will finish this
SR> year in the top ten and Texas and Wake Forest almost certainly will
SR> be the only other ranked teams.

I just can't see that as true. OSU, aTm, MU, and KSU all played with
VERY young QBs and most of their talent isn't going anywhere. Make no
mistake, despite a poor performance in bowl games, those teams will be
better next year and I would think at least 2 of them (prolly not KSU)
will be ranked in the top 25.

Texas finished poorly, but if you think for a minute that they won't
be better next yea. Colt McCoy is a good QB and was playing LIGHTS
OUT until he got knocked out of (was it @KSU?). After that he never
really played well and given a full off-season to recover, I bet he'll
be back and probably a Big XII POTY candidate. Then you bring back a
lot of your talent (Jamaal Charles, Marcus Griffin (not Michael),
maybe Limus Sweed plus their absolutely disgusting recruiting class
this year with 22 commits averaging 3.73 stars (second only to USC @
4.25) according to rivals. Some of those players could make an impact
right away.

IMHO, not counting a possible Big XII champ game, we have 2 games vs
Top 10 and at least 3 or 4 non-top 10 ranked games.

SR> If NU can't win AT LEAST 10 games next year (10-4, 10-3, or better),
SR> it won't be because the schedule was too strong, it will be because
SR> NU was too weak or didn't realize its potential.

I just plain don't see it. There was what, 5 freshman QBs this year
in the Big XII? Of course their going to have a down year. Those
QBs will get better, as will the rest of their teams.

I'm not saying NU for MNC next year, but it still is a tough schedule.

And don't forget that matchup everyone's got circled on their
calendars...Ball State. Ouch. That's the same Ball State that nearly
beat a Top 10 Michigan this year. WOW! (Sarcasm intended).

GBR!
