[Husker] Positive thoughts

Nebraska will play at least 7 teams next year that were in bowls this year- potentially 2 more if they make the Big 12 title game and whoever they play in a bowl was in one this year too. My guess is that not too many teams are facing 9 bowl teams very often the following season, despite the increased number of bowl games and the ease with which teams now qualify.

I'm not sure what positive improvement is either - but I'm not sure it has
to do with record, completely, either. I think losing to a Colorado by 40 or
TT by a million again would cause the concern. Yes I want to win the big
ones, but I also don't want to get killed in them either. I think the close
games show improvement, and short of a few bounces, the huskers 'record' could
have been better. If the same thing happens next year - I think they
improved. The world of college football is getting bunched up. USC, Texas will be
very good again. Wake Forest, Missouri, A&M, OK State, K-State should all be
improved. Even Kansas is at Kansas- So it could be a test. If the recruits
are as good as they say, Keller is able to step in fast and the defense keeps
it up - we should be fine!!! Remember when we were talking about getting a
strong enough schedule??

I'm not sure how you show "dramatic improvement" next year without a
corresponding improvement in record. We played four top ten teams tough and "should
have won" two of those. I can't imagine how Callahan shows dramatic
improvement without affecting the record. A second season of five close losses
merely emphasizes that Callahan can't win against good teams and would show me
that we are standing still.

A 10-4 season next year is the minimum to keep the heat off of Callahan
IMHO, although even that record would be a disappointment to me just as this
year's 9-5 record was a disappointment. Still given the greater number of games,
if BC can win 10 games per season, I'll stick with him as I did Osborne when
he was winning just 9 per year.

OTOH, I can't imagine any situation where a coach would be fired with only
three losses (wait, there is something floating in my memory that relates to
this situation -- hazy recollections -- the name "Frankie" comes to mind . . .
.).

Regardless of the
