[Husker] Things That Are Painfully Obvious

1. I have been called many things in my career, "troll" is a new one.
This type of call is inexcusable because of several things; the fact
that Auburn might be the quickest team we faced all year, the fact that
the play was deep on our end of the field, the potential for this to be
a "game changing moment" if it failed, the fact that you are asking a
fullback to take the short snap and make a perfect handoff/pitch, the
fact that you would ask Andrew Shanle to run wide AND outrun the Auburn
defense for a first down.

2. If the coaches felt that Lucky was doing better than Jackson, then
we have a real problem with personnel decisions mid--game.

3. Who is this "mystery kicker" that you are referring to that in your
opinion is apparently a "lock" to overtake the starting positions as
field goal kicker and kickoff man?

4. You put a guy deep on the punt not because a return is more likely
to succeed than a punt block, but to call a fair catch as that stops the
clock and gives us an extra two plays to run as opposed to letting it
sit on the ground for an additional 10 seconds.

5. Call Grixby out? Are you suggesting that his inability to cover
tall receivers is not "painfully obvious"? I am not sure what game(s)
you have been watching. I do like his effort, but in this day and age
you need both size, talent, and effort to play that position
effectively.

It was a mistake (agreed). Calling it "inexcusable" is
something a troll would say.

The Huskers will have a long kicker for the 2007 season.

Our new long kicker will do the same in 2007

Jackson has an injured hand. Clearly, the coaches felt
that Lucky was the better choice for most of the plays.

Yeah, our offense lost the game. Zac had a bad day (he also
had a bad day versus Oklahoma).

> We can't put a guy deep to catch the last punt

Clearly, the coaches believed our best chance was blocking
the punt (by sending everyone). They (correctly) thought
that there would be minimal opportunity to drive all the way
down the field following a successful punt.

> we haven't been able to field punts correctly all year.

Indeed, a long punt return was less likely than a blocked
punt (which we have done several times).

This has been said again and again (and again). However,
Grixby did not lose the game for us. Why call him out?

> This is a tough one to take.

Yeah, we could have won that one. And Oklahoma too. And Texas.
But look on the bright side: we played three top teams and had
them beat (if had avoided a few mistakes). That's progress.
