      One thing to remember is what determines what the networks "like" is 
what draws ratings.  Beyond that they have really no preference.  That is 
the biggest reason I believe there is no playoff in IA football.  Evidently 
no one has convinced the powers that be (tv networks, NCAA brass, and the 
like) they would make as much or more money with a playoff.  If they were 
convinced they would make more money with a playoff system there would be 
one in place in a heartbeat.
