Ah! the sins that have been committed under the rubrik "Business is
business"! Actually, it's nothing more than the thinly disguised
teen-ager's ploy, "But Mom, all the kids're doin' it!"

Essentially it's just another analogy (there I go again!) which,
while it may tear at the heartstrings, proves nothing.

The University of Nebraska is a tax-supported public institution,
part of which is an athletic department that is self-supporting
because the football program is profitable enough to "carry" the
other athletic programs. The income from football, however, does not
qualify either the university or the athletic department as a
business.

I have no notion - - or opinion - - about the justification of
Ostergard's dismissal because, like everyone on this List, I have
access to none of the facts. But I cannot trust the words of those
who deny me such access.
