I was sincerely hoping this article wouldn't make this board because it is
much ado about nothing. What I find hilarious is that before this story
broke most of the incensed individuals could not have named Doak as the
trainer with the help of a multiple choice test. Now all of a sudden it
becomes a part of that great Pederson-Callahan cabal.
>From all I have heard Doak has related well with the players over the years.
He is like any other medical person. Through the years there have been
parents who have sworn by him, there have been parents who have sworn at
him. When Doak was promoted to head trainer there were former players who
voiced worry about his ability to handle the job.
Remember the training staff was involved in the controversy with the
strength and conditioning program during Solich's tenure. They excused
players from lifting because they disagreed with the techniques being taught
by the S&C personnel.
As far as how the events leading up to non-renewal transpired, none of us
can really say we weren't involved. I would doubt this happened totally out
of the blue.
Actually, if events really did transpire as Ostergard claims, he should be
the happiest guy in the world. Let's see if he goes ahead and files a
wrongful termination. I'll bet there is someone on the board who will help
the poor guy out by offering to take it pro bonum.
