Coaching stability isn't a thing of the past in places like Iowa where 
they are content to be a little bit above average every year.

I don't think that Kirk Ferentz is a bad coach, but he's being compensated 
quite well for doing as poorly as he is. In the next few years, Iowa State 
will build a better program and kick Iowa's butt annually. When that 
happens, Kirk won't be around unless he improves a great deal.

Let's just say that Iowa isn't a very good example of what you're looking 
for here.
