A couple of observations from the morning after ...
Nebraska's been "junkin' up" their defenses a bit lately to help counter their unconventional line-up (from a size standpoint). Box-and-one and zone have been used extensively in the past two road wins. Last night, Jarrius Jackson, Tech's All-Big XII go-to-guy, was held to five points -- his first non-double figure scoring game in about 50. Jackson torched Nebraska for 41 last year in the Devaney Center. Jay-R Strowbridge was on him for most of the second half. Bobby Knight gave a ton of credit to Jay-R for his defensive effort.
Richardson finished with 15 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds. Marcus Perry scored all 13 of his points in the last 8.5 minutes. If I recall correctly, NU finished the game on a 21-8 run. The Huskers outscored Tech 45-30 in the second half while shooting 52 percent from the field with few turnovers.
Nebraska basketball is the lead story on ESPN's Sportscenter, with Richardson's shot being #1 in their "top ten plays."
Happy signing day.
Dave Norris
