I understand the concern with hiring a coach with little or no
prior
head coaching experience, but when all the accolades seem to come
from
successful coaches who have worked with the guy I really can't
see why
people would be so worried about this hire. Obviously no one who
has
worked with him is going to criticize the guy before he starts
his first
head job, but as hard as it is for some folks on this list to
admit, the
other coaches who are heaping the praise on Pelini know a heckuva
lot
more about what it takes to succeed in coaching.

I am not going to disagree with you on whether coaches know
coaching and what it takes to succeed moreso than someone who has
never been in coaching. That is a given. But I also do know the
coaching fraternity is a lot like a good ole boys club. Rarely
are you ever going to hear one coach criticize another. The only
time you might hear this is if a coach believes he has been
wronged by another coach. But, generally they stick up for each
other. I don't see how anyone could possibly know what kind of
Head Coach Pelini will be. Because he has never been one no one
has anything to go on. There is no track record. I am not
against Pelini and am not going to unduly and hopefully not
unfairly criticize him. But, I haven't seen anything yet to
completely hop on the bandwagon either.
Sincerely,
Bob Beach
