Like it is nearly every year. Remember two years ago
when Josh Freeman jilted Callahan just before
Christmas?
Here's a thought... perhaps Bo Pelini looked at the
film of some of these guys and told them that while
Nebraska would honor the scholarship that had been
offered, they might want to find another institution
that better matches their talents. Many fans are
making the assumption that these players were not only
a good match for the previous coaching staff (who
probably have a questionable record in that regard
anyway) but also the new staff. Maybe Pelini and his
staff looked at the films and wondered just what
Rivals and Callahan were thinking about these guys.
And who knows, maybe Dan Hawkins (who ended getting
commitments from many of these guys) was able to
successfully convince recruits that Nebraska was going
to run the Wing-T offense and wear leather helmets on
defense. Maybe some of these players will change
their minds again after the dead period ends in
January.
