They did mention that fact, but figured the pay could be worked so
that it may not make that much monetary difference. The other
reasoning they used, which I found a bit less convincing (but not that
any of this convinces me of anything at all) was that Porter has been
with Miles now for 6 years - the last three at LSU and three years at
Okie State (I think). Their idea on that matter was that asst. coaches
reach a point where they don't think they can learn much more at the
feet of a certain head coach, and want to strike out on their own.
Hmmm. Nice idea but I'm not so sure I buy into that piece of logic.
But we'll see. The New Year will certainly bring something new in
terms of Husker football. That is the one certainty. And I for one
can't wait.
