I believe I read a post not too long ago that stated that this young man did
not want to go to NU, but was feeling like he was obligated to.  If that's
the case, he is better off at ND.  You can't beat ND for scholastics.

      Great point.  I think many times we, including myself, forget these kids
      are drawn to certain situations based on more than just football or
      there are more important things to them than just football.  Things are
      different today than when TO recruited ten plus years ago.  NU no longer
      necessarily can go up to a recruit and claim to have the best
      facilities, strength program, weight room, training table, training
      staff, coaching staff, and etc.  NU certainly is great in all those
      areas but so are many top schools these days.  Kids no longer have to go
      to NU to "get the best of everything".  And as far as scholastics there
      are many fine institutions out there with some being better than NU.  Of
      course that is determined by what one wants to major in.  Sometimes a
      kid just feels more comfortable in a certain situation than others.  I
      would never ridicule, not saying anyone here has, a kid for his choice
      of a college.  The reasons for choosing one college over another are
      various, sundry, and personal.
