My take on this is that Callahan's recruiting and/or player development
focused
on other areas. The team showed it really did not have a passion to
win, to be
the best, etc. Losing became common place and therefore acceptable to the
players. So what if we lose, there's always another game. Recruiting
talented
players is important, but they also need to be driven to succeed. Some
of that
can be nurtured, but some needs to come from the players themselves. I don't
see that in Purify's comments. Instead, I see him whining (and this may be a
bit strong, but that's how it appears to me) about the expectations placed on
the team. That's not the attitude I want to see in who comes to play for
Nebraska.
