Regardless of the debate concerning the relevance to recruiting, I feel
sorry that Maurice feels this way. And from his perspective as a player,
perhaps this is all he can see. But I think Dr. Tom summed it up best when
firing the head coach that it was not so much the losing, but how they
lost. We as fans certainly want wins - anybody disagree with that??? - but
I think I would have taken some comfort from loses where we were
competitive. I was at the aTm game and I was all jazzed up after the first
half because we were playing well, and it looked like we would make a game
of it. 2nd half - different story. Okie State, Mizzou, USC, Kansas, same
story again and again. Had we lost those games but played well enough to
win, made it close, held the other team to at least ONE three-and-out, I'd
feel better.

So, Maurice, no, wins are not all we care about. Is it important to win?
You bet. That's the one statistic that counts. Is it just as important to
play well and do your best? Yes again. And that's what I don't think we
saw much of this year. Something was missing from this team, but it wasn't
just not winning.
