I don't recall any time when an AD recruited to this extent either.  I 
also don't recall an AD that has the knowledge and the ability to 
recruit that Coach Osborne has.  Of course this is a bit biase by my 
respect of Coach Osborne.

     I wouldn't argue with Osborne's ability but there have been a lot of
     former Head Coaches that became ADs.  The closest to home being Bob
     Devaney and I don't remember Devaney recruting after he became AD.  It is
     just that one would think it would be a pretty common thing if it was
     allowed.  I would think there is something still technically
     contractually okay that allows TO to do it.
