If you're discussing head coaches, I think there is, if anything, an
inverse relationship. If you want great players who became great head
coaches, the list is pretty short - Bear Bryant and Steve Spurrier come
immediately to mind - though it obviously depends on your definition of
"great". The list of good players who became good (e.g., Frank Solich)
or great (Tom Osborne) head coaches is obviously longer.
But the discussion here is assistant coaches (that, at least is how it
started), and there I suspect you will find more great players who
became very successful assistants.
Anyway, since no one in the athletic department or the media has
suggested that Mike Minter is under consideration to be DB coach, is
there any point to this thread?
