I think this is a matter of phrasing to be honest- I would say that being a great player doesn't GUARANTEE one will be a great coach- perhaps that is what this poster was trying to say? I would agree with that for sure, but it's also true that many great players have gone on to become great coaches (in most all sports).

Why do you think that great players can't be great coaches? There are so many contradictions to this in real life that listing them would be pointless. Just one example is Steve Spurrier. He won the Heisman Trophy and is in the College Hall of Fame as a player. And he is one hell of a great coach, make no mistake. Not sure where you are going with this.
