Jeff...what a great post.

Remember in Ground Hog Day, bad stuff kept happening until he got it right.
Hopefully, TO got it right the first time.

Some quick comments:

ASSISTANT COACHES: I think so many former Huskers coaches were selected to
satisfy the boosters. Not for their ability. If they were so great, why
weren't they employed in big time programs (some weren't employed at all)?
Personally, I like Ron Brown...as a person and as a coach. The rest, only
time will tell.

SHAWN WATSON: Again, only time will tell, but he does know the
offense...and the players. A major problem with Callahan was that he was
unwilling to gradually work in his offense with the players already in
place. That first season could have been better if he had run something a
little different. I think this is a good hire.

RECRUITING: For those on the list...name former Husker scholarship (not
walk-on) players from Nebraska who were not highly recruited by other
programs and yet were stars under Osborne. I can't think of any. Not
saying there weren't great players from Nebraska, just saying that they were
recruited by a lot of other folks. I think this recent recruit from
Nebraska was done for show. He may turn out to be a superstar, but the only
reason he was offered a scholarship at this particular time was to show the
Husker Nation that recruiting in Nebraska has resumed. As for 4-5 star
players...hmm...Turner Gill, Tommie Frazier, Mike Rozier, Christian Peter,
Lawrence Phillips, Ahman Green(actually from Nebraska!), etc. Gotta have em
if you want to win championships.

BCS: I like it...I hate it...no wait...I like it...I can't make up my mind.
Kind of like boxing. No one knows who the real champion is, but it's fun to
talk about...ad nauseum!

SOS: When I lived in Alabama during the 80's, I took a lot of crap about
Nebraska's nonconference schedule. Yeah, it's better than K-St's, but in
reality, it's usually pretty light.

FAN EXPECTATIONS: I don't know about anyone else, but I want to see
championships...every year. With a good defense this year, Nebraska would
have had one, I think. Let's hope Pelini can right the ship. I would like
the Huskers to win the Big XII immediately. Believe it or not, but I think
that should have happened this year...Cosgrove's defense...especially the
DB's playing off the receivers...ARGHHH.
