I must admit that I simply don't follow the offers and
commitments that much, so I've probably missed the
ones that tripped your alerts. As I've understood
things, we've offered a couple of scholarships, one to
a small town kid who's been coached by a former Husker
player. I'm assuming that the scholarship is based on
the recommendations of the coach in large part.
The other is Ben Cotton, who was ready to accept a
scholarship from Louisville and had offers from
Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa, if I read the papers
properly.
Maybe there are some others that I've missed, but I
don't see what the fuss is about. Let's face it,
while Nebraska needs to get some elite players, we
also need to bring in players who think that "I play
for Nebraska" isn't just a marketing slogan some
administrator hung in the locker room. I think that's
what Osborne is trying to fill that void in the
program.
Everything in moderation.
