I  remember TO making a statement along those same lines. I thought he said 
something like "at the time nobody said a tie would have given us the 
National Championship or we probably would have kicked it.....we went into 
that game with the intention of winning, so there really was no other 
decision" or something like that. I took it as a bit of humor, and then 
stating that he would have gone for the win no matter what.

At least that is how my feeble mind remembers it!!
