[Husker] Going for 2

Sue and all,

I probably shouldn't get involved in this discussion since it has no
"right" answers. I don't happen to subscribe to the position that going
for the win at the Orange Bowl was a bad decision. Had we made the 2
point, we would have been National Champion and the point wouldn't have
mattered. As it was, the championship slipped away and we can continue
to discuss it all these years later.

I also don't think Tom made a bad choice of Frank Solich to take the HC
of the Huskers. It was Pederson that made the bad choice regarding Solich.

I do think that Pederson fooled Tom as he did about everyone in
Nebraska. Pederson lost me when he decided to take this "new direction"
and it was pretty obvious (at least in hind sight) that Pederson's new
direction was away from everything that was Nebraska Football. I doubt
that Tom could have known that, and I think it fooled a lot of other
people along the way.

In retrospect, I think the campaign for governor was run about right.
The current governor is doing a fair job in that capacity. I think he
would have been a horrible AD! (*smile*-thats a joke for the ones that
might wonder).
