Let me see if I can clarify my point. Go for 2 and make it = National Championship, miss it = No National Championship. Go for 1 = National Championship. You only needed one point to be the National Champion.
Instead of TO getting his first National Championship, Miami got theirs.
It was as bad of a decision then, as it would be today!
