Ted,
I feel exactly the same. I believe the opening remarks Tom Osborne made in
the press conference are the answer. He said that looking at where the team
is now, a strong emphasis/expertise on defense was a factor he weighed in
his decision. Turner is obviously an offensive guy first, and that was
probably the key edge for Pellini.
It's also possible that the strong relationship between Tom and Turner might
have hurt as much as helped his candidacy, but I'm just speculating.
