[Husker] Pitt coach Dave Wannstedt was given a three-year contract extension...

Pat, I agree that Pitt didn't "earn" the win but rather WV "earned" the loss.

But what went through my mind all night was "Why would Steve Pedersen give Wannstadt an extension?" Maybe better phrased, why would SP come to Nebraska and fire a 75% career winning coach (I concede some shortcomings), but then return to Pitt and retain a career under-.500 coach -- and give him an extension? I could see SP firing the guy and looking for a replacement, or I could see giving Wannie another year to improve, but I can see no logical reasoning behind an extension? Does anyone have anything close to a decent rationale for this action?

SP made some bad decisions at NU and this seems to be in keeping with that trend. (At least he is not at NU anymore).

West Virginia lost this game moreso than Pitt winning it. I am willing
to bet money that Wannstedt will not turn things around. He is not a
good coach, and one game doesn't change the fact that he's had 5
consecutive losing seasons. This move will still look stupid in the
long-term, and I am sure of that.
