Not necessarily. The contract could have a series of annual options, 
i.e., if we decide to keep you, we'll pay you $X for this year, but if 
we let you go, we'll buy out the contract for $Y. I have no idea what 
the custom is with ADs' contracts, but it's fairly common in baseball.
