[Husker] Recruiting

One more interesting development in JC recruiting. As we've discussed
before, Nebraska works at a disadvantage in recruiting by not being near
large population bases and by not being in sunny, warm climates, which
equals scantily clad young women that easily lure 18 year old kids (as if
scantily clad young women don't easily lure 50 year old men).

One way of combating these disadvantages was thru a unique offense, so we
weren't competing directly with many of the other big powers for some of the
top talent that we needed. The current offense means we must go up against
many of the other top programs.

BUT ... The JC recruiting offers a different way to achieve a similar end as
the old offense. As long as USC, Texas, Miami, etc. aren't interested in JC
players we are not competing directly with them, or as many of them, or as
frequently, at least. It doesn't mean we get all the JC players we go after.
It means it increases our odds of getting them. You can figure that other
big programs still target JC gems that they either need to fill a gap, or
the player is just too good not to go after. However, it appears that
Nebraska, under Callahan, has staked out several hot JC schools and now has
some inside position.
