My online dictionary has, for sarcasm: "A cutting, hostile, or
contemptuous remark." So, who would have a problem with that?
Personally, I don't have a problem with the topic of Jeff's post.
Certainly, whether or not the walkon program is healthy is a topic
worth discussing, perhaps even with sarcasm ;-). On one hand, we
are all tired of "Was firing Solich and hiring Callahan a wise
decision (as judged by subsequent events)," but on the other hand,
it is, after all, the $64M question (and that monetary figure might
not be far off the real long-term implications one way or the other)
and the answer isn't yet clear (beyond the opinions we started with
and some initial struggles and more recent successes). Those who
wish that the underlying question was never referenced nor discussed
probably will have to wait years.
So, if Jeff wants to say: "See, you critics, you're over-reacting
nincompoops," why not? There isn't that much more substantive
discussion in the handful of posts each day in the week before
the opening game.
