[Husker] Recruiting

I think in the era of the 85 scholarship limit, you
can utilize JuCo's like a quasi-JV program, giving
players a chance to play at a higher level than high
school and with more opportunities than on the scout
team, then bring them into the program with more
experience. In a way, it's like a farm system for
college athletics.

A few years ago, I wondered if Bill Synder had found a
way around NCAA limits by using JuCo's. Using JuCo's
allows us to recruit 25-30 players a year instead of
the 15-20 that we could recruit otherwise. In a way,
JuCo's are kind of a 2-for-1 special. If you recruit
a JuCo over a high school senior, you get a more
experienced player now, then in 2 years, you'll
probably be able to recruit another JuCo to take his
spot and in the end, hopefully get more bang for your
roster spot.
