Bob,

I happen to agree with you on this one (don't tell anyone, I don't want it
going around) that 90% of the 'bias' against one's team in the media is in
your own mind.

That being said, Herbsteak IS clearly biased against NU in my mind (I may be
wrong, but I don't think I am). I thought that before, but it was really
confirmed in his tirade.

People around the country generally have a lot of respect for Nebraska's
football program. The only thing that really bugs me is that despite living
in one of the more technologically advanced areas of the U.S., people still
think we all live in mud huts and pick our only tooth with a fork while
smoking a Marlboro. Don't get me wrong, there are some extreme rural areas
in Nebraska, but I've always hated this perception.

It happens all over. It is not unique to Huskerdom. When one's
favorite team is being discussed it is demanded by fans of that team
that everything said be 100% factually correct. Not only correct but
there can be no, expressed or implied or misread, statement/s against
that team. When other teams are discussed the announcers/sports writers
do the same thing. We just don't notice and don't care since it isn't
one's favorite team.
