Though I doubt we'll hear you say it, your doubts are wrong.  Here
is what you wrote:  "I seriously doubt if this team goes undefeated
they will win the NC.  If they go undefeated I doubt they will be
in the top five barring some sort of collapse by 4-6 other teams."
Now you write:  "I can make a case the other way."  Okay.  I'll
bite.  Make even a marginally plausible case in which an undefeated
NU is outside the top five.  If you can do that, then we'll talk
about your the probabilities of your "serious doubt" scenario which
would keep NU out of the top two.

BTW, NU won the AVCA championship in 4 games over UCLA.
