[Husker] Big Ten?

- I seriously doubt that the Big 10 sees Nebraska at the same academic
level, regardless of what we think of ourselves.
- The sole reason for any expansion the Big 10 would do is to get more
TV's for their upcoming cable network. Nebraska doesn't offer that, at
least in the condensed form that they're seeking. The previous reason for
conference expansion (SEC, Big 12) was to form a title game. The Big 10
will not do that. Think about it - the Michigan/Ohio State game has
determined the conference championship how many times over the past years.
You can't put them in the same division, and then you're probably going to
have them play again right after they've recently played?
- Iowa State doesn't offer the population nor the academics. Same with
Mizzou.
- What's in it for us? Nothing. We've established a history of pulling
recruits from Texas, Oklahoma, and around that part of the nation. We've
rarely pulled in recruits from Michigan, Ohio. We are one of the leaders
in the Big 12. In the Big 10, we'd be a newcomer.
- We'd have to invent some dorky trophies to compete with a bronzed pig, a
giant axe, a great big ol' Jug. You up for that? :)
- The day that Notre Dame realizes they're like everyone else, the Big 10
will expand. Good luck with that, Jim Delany.
